What should I do after a softball camp?
Within 48 hours, email the coach who ran your group: thank them, name the session and the day, say one specific thing you learned, and give them your next games. Then log who you talked to while you still remember the names.
The 48-hour checklist
- Thank-you email to the coach who worked with your group, not a generic address. Subject line with your name, grad year and the camp. Two short paragraphs.
- Film and schedule. Link your highlight video and list your next events with dates. Before September 1 of junior year the staff cannot write back about recruiting; send the note anyway and keep your schedule current - they are allowed to read it.
- Log the contacts. Every coach you spoke with, what they said, and what you promised to send. The app's recruiting log does this and reminds you to follow up.
- Questionnaire. If you have not filled in the program's recruiting questionnaire, do it now; it is how the staff adds you to their list.
- Follow the program so you hear the day the next camp posts.
What a reply means, and what silence means
A personal reply that names something you did at camp is real interest; a form reply is not; and before September 1 of junior year a D1 staff may not be allowed to reply at all. Silence after one camp is normal - send the note, keep your schedule current, and let the staff's next invitation tell you where you stand.
Templates
The app's coach email templates include the post-camp thank-you, filled in from your profile, and the recruiting tab prompts you to send it the day after a camp you marked as going. The email guide has the structure if you write your own.
