Women's Soccer recruiting · updated November 2026
When can college coaches contact women's soccer recruits?
At the NCAA Division I level, coaches may contact women's soccer recruits starting June 15 after sophomore year. Before that, the player can still email, fill in questionnaires and go to the program's camp; the coach just cannot start the conversation. Official and unofficial visits with the coaching staff open August 1 before junior year.
What the date covers
From June 15 after a player's sophomore year, D1 coaches may call, text, email and DM her directly and may make verbal offers. Before that date a D1 coach may not initiate contact with the player, but the player may still fill in the program's recruiting questionnaire, email the staff, and go to the program's camp - and a coach may watch her or him play at ECNL national events and Girls Academy showcases, where most Power-conference signees are first seen.
Official and unofficial visits with the coaching staff open August 1 before junior year. Most D1 women's soccer commitments happen in grade 11, some in grade 10.
Division II, III and NAIA
Division II coaches may call and email from June 15 after sophomore year and may meet in person from the same date. Division III and NAIA coaches have no contact date: they may respond to a player at any time, which is why a D3 program can answer an email a D1 program legally cannot.
What to do before the date
Three things count before June 15 after sophomore year: the program's recruiting questionnaire (coaches build their first lists from it), a short introduction email with grad year, position, club and film, and the program's own camp. The camp is the one place a staff can legally evaluate a player in person before the date - see the full list of verified women's soccer ID camps, and the app's coach email templates write the introduction from a player's profile.
